Happy World Emotional Intelligence Week!
June 6, 2026
I want to tell you a story.
Over a decade ago, I was sitting in a workplace training on emotional intelligence and something in me just lit up.
It felt like I had been given a language I didn’t know I was missing. A mirror to understand myself, and a map to navigate how I show up with others.
That moment truly changed the direction of my life.
The more I learned, the more I realized how valuable EQ is as both a professional and a personal skill.
They say you end up teaching what you most need to practice yourself. For me, that was impulse control. Learning how to pause and reflect. To respond instead of react.
And truthfully, it’s something I still practice every single day with my clients and my family.
Today, as a certified EQ coach, trainer, speaker, and the CEO of McLaughlin Mentoring, I have the privilege of helping leaders build that same awareness and connection in their own lives.
Because emotional intelligence doesn’t just make us better leaders. It helps us become better partners, parents, friends, colleagues, and humans.
On World EQ Day tomorrow, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on how you're showing up for yourself and for the people around you.
And if developing your emotional intelligence is something you'd like to explore more deeply, whether through an EQ assessment, coaching, leadership development, or team training, I'd love to be part of that journey.
Thank you for being part of mine.
Happy World Emotional Intelligence Week!
Warmly,
Jillian
